All our organic mattresses feature no polyester backing (most companies do not tell you that they have hidden fibers inside their mattresses). No additives in our wool or our organic cotton (many companies will tell you the outer fabric is organic but they do not tell you about anything that is not pure). The rubber in our rubber quality mattresses is Latex Green, tested for us by a third party lab in Pasadena. Test Results here. No other company can give you such clean test results. We use cotton tape edge and the only non organic thing in our hypoallergenic mattresses is the untreated polyester thread we need to use so that it does not fall apart. Organic mattresses and organic bedding are very important for your health and the health of your children. Virtually all commercially available mattresses are made today are filled with petroleum based foam and then soaked in a pound or more of fire retardant chemicals. These organic bed mattresses outgas formaldehyde as they age, which is a known carcinogen. Fire retardants, made of chemicals called PBDE's, build up in our bodies like the banned PCBs and have been associated with neurological damage and cancer. PBDE fire retardants have already been banned in Europe, but unfortunately not in North America. Organic mattresses are the only way to protect yourself from 8 hours of exposure to these dangerous chemicals every night.
Our natural rubber, latex, and naturally produced fabrics are not soaked in a pound or more of cancer causing PBDEs fire retardant, we use a natural fire retardant.
